Costumes! Or as I like to call them, the contextual clothes!
And they are a bit like contextual clothes, because the main difference I’ve found between fashion design and costume design is that costumes have to serve a narrative purpose within the context of a story. So of course, when fashion can be designed to be used by everyone, costumes are meant to be used by only one person in a certain context in a certain story.
I didn’t learn this by myself. Below are 5 great tutorials on character design and costume design that will help you get a better insight in the process of learning this. I am using them to get better at costume design myself, and hopefully soon I will have some cool stuff to show you!
